Nauticat 38 Ketch offshore cruising Motorsailer originally a Dusseldorf boat show. Hull number 68 Built in 1979 but commissioned in 1980, she was shown at the Dusseldorf boat show and purchased by her German 1st owner who named her Wappen von Kaiserslautern.
From 1990 she was left at Vilamoura marina in Portugal the owner had a serious accident and couldn’t use the boat she was neglected for many years until her 2nd owner bought her and completely refurbished her in 2002. This owner was Portuguese and renamed her Santelmo.
Then, the 3rd Englishmen owners Brian and Linda Holden bought the boat in September 2004 in Algarve Portugal.
They sailed all over the med as far east as Turkey, living aboard full time for the first 7 years. In more recent years they have used her for summer cruising mainly in Greece and put her out of the water for the winters.
In May of 2022 I became the 4th owner of Santelmo
Santelmo is a fine and well maintained example of this classic, go anywhere motorsailer. The Nauticat 38 gives a spacious and comfortable live-aboard experience and this model does not come onto the market often.
Santelmo was purchased in 2022 and in the period until August 2024 was completely repainted with new paint, new teak desk, two bow & stern thrusters, two vetus electric toilets, second anchor with electric windlass at the stern, roll bar with suspended bimini top and solar panels, overhaul in all peripherals of the engine and the diesel generator, new stainless steel catwalk, new construction of sail controls from the cockpit with a unique hand-made roller system and many more upgrades
